What is a range/2h?
A range/2h is a type of pure found in f2p pking. They are arguably the best pure in f2p worlds and are extremely deadly.
Why do i want a range/2h
As i said before the range/2h is thought of as the best pure in f2p. Also range and strength do not add up together for Combat levels, thus the bow is more accurate than a sword. Since attack cannot be leveled on a strength pure without raising combat levels people tend to stop after level 40 and only level strength. But a range/2h may level range higher to be more accurate.
What stats should i have on my Range/2h
Attack: 40
Strength: 60+
Defense: 1
Range: 65+
Prayer: 1 or 44 for Eagle Eye.
Magic: 1 or 37 for Teleports.
These are the minimal stats before pking.
How should i train my range/2h
First lets start off with attack and strength, always level up strength before attack as exp is gained by damage dealt, here is the ratio
Attack - Strength - Defense
1 - 1 - 1
10 - 10 - 1
20 - 20 - 1
30 - 30 - 1
40 - 40 - 1
40 - 60 - 1.
You should level these stats on monks at the Monastery until 40 attack and 40 strength. Once you get that you can level until 60 strength on Flesh Crawlers or Hill Giants (if you want money).
Now to level ranged
Until level 5 you should level up on chicken in the lumbridge chicken coop (either one). Once you get that you can get to 20 attacking Men in Edgeville or killing cows and banking cowhides. At 20 ranged go to the Stronghold of security and attack minotaurs (level 12). At 30 you can fight minotaurs (level 27) until 40. After that kill hill giants until 65 ranged.
What should my Pking equipment be?
Your equipment should be: Coif,Amulet of power, Any team cape, 75 adamant arrows, Monk robe (top) or if you didn't level prayer just use leather body/ Iron chainbody, Maple shortbow, Green D'hide Chaps, Leather boots, Green D'Hide Vambraces, Explorer Ring 1-3 or no ring at all.
(I need a picture of this so if anyone has one please present it to me)
Your inventory should have: 1 Strength Potion, 1 Rune 2h, 3 air,1law and 1 fire rune (if you have at least 25 magic). And the rest of the inventory should be lobsters.
Tatics
Once you start fighting your opponent in pvp you should first think these thoughts:
-Is this person likely to drain a lot of my hp and just run away because he can't fight?
-Is he going to eat every chance he gets?
-Am i able to defeat him?
If all of these are answered no (except for the last one )Then you should engage. It's polite to ask if they want to fight first as if they are picking up drops from their previous kill it can be very annoying. Once you start fighting drink you strength potion. when your opponent gets to a bit less then half their hp you have 3 options:
1. Normal Switch
After your arrow fires and you see a high number (around 8) pull out the range 2h and attack. This is the most basic type of Ko.
Pros: Extremely easy to do.
Cons: Opponent has time to eat a lobster, usually failing the KO
2. Bait Switch
After your arrow fires and you see a high number (around 8) Run into a safe zone or just run away a few steps, pull out your rune 2h and attack, they usually will come after you with low hp.
Pros: Opponents usually ignore the fact they have low hp and run after you
Cons: Opponents may eat, this can only be used once before they catch on.
3. Quick Switch
When your character pick up and arrow switch to rune 2h, due to a glitch the arrow will fire even if the bow is not there, therefore the damages stack.
Pros: Deadliest switch, easy kills
Cons: You do not know the damage of you first arrow or your 2h sword, the result may be as demeaning as 1-2.
Or if your a person who likes to kill with style.
4. Humiliation Switch.
Much like the quick switch, after you pull out your arrow go to your equipments tab and click on your bow and then click on your opponent. The result will be a kick and an arrow hitting them at the same time.
Pros: Major Humiliation for your opponent, many lol's,nice's,Owned's from other players
Cons: A kick does less damage than a 2h sword.
I think that just about covers it. Let me know if somethings wrong or if i missed out on anything.
Have Fun PKing! Hope to see your arrows find their target!
